KEY QUESTIONS
What was the genocide like for one Rwandan, Alisa? When we see stories like this, how do we feel? Is there a way to make sense of difficult stories like this?
This lesson is based on two of the films on the RwandanStories website: ‘Ntarama church massacre’ and ‘In the marshes’. They are confronting, but can fuel students’ interest in exploring the causes of, and solutions to, such conflicts.
They mirror the genocide stories of tens of thousands of Rwandans and are a grim but important starting point for understanding Rwanda’s ambitious efforts at providing justice, and rebuilding a country.
